Upper Buffalo Wilderness Area
12/4/2010
The trip began when I met my brother, his son and his friends at Cracker Barrel in Conway. They were only 25 minutes late...which is good for my brother. We all ate a manly breakfast and then drove westward then north to the southern end of the wilderness area and headed downstream along the Upper Buffalo River. We located a suitable campsite around and set up camp. The temp was around 45 by the afternoon, skies sunny to partly cloudy. Low was down to 24 at night with an annoying wind. Our camp was near a nice rocky rapids area with exposed bedrock. The water was low and easy to cross. We had a great fire that night. Went to bed around 1100, up at 0700. Left campground by 0900, home by noon total trip a mere 3.7 miles.
